It’s not just a job; it’s a lifestyle that lets you turn your travel dreams into reality.

If you’re a millennial like me, you’re probably constantly daydreaming about exploring new destinations while keeping the work grind going. Well, guess what? I’ve found the ultimate travel hack, and it’s called a remote job.

For everyone, 2020 changed a lot of things. Personally, it kickstarted my remote career journey as a marketing professional. Prior to the COVID outbreak, I was working one day a week remotely, but that all changed in March 2020. Yes, I am fortunate to have a career path that can be performed remotely. The key to this is finding a career that you enjoy (or excel in) that can be performed remotely.

In this blog post, I’m going let you in on a secret on how my remote job has turned my wanderlust into a full-blown international adventure. So, grab your laptop and get ready to learn how to live the dream of working from anywhere in the world!

The Freedom of Remote Work

Enjoying the View at Pandawa Beach in Bali, Indonesia.

Picture this: I’m sitting on a beach in Bali, my toes in the sand, and my laptop on my lap. The sound of the waves crashing in the background, a fruity cocktail by my side, and I’m clocking in hours while the sun sets – not your typical office view, right? Remote work has given me the freedom to turn my dream destinations into my everyday reality. All I need to do remember to work during, in my case, Eastern Time Zone.

Finding the Perfect Remote Job

Now, I know what you’re thinking – how do I get in on this remote work action? It’s all about finding the right job that fits your skills and lifestyle. Everyone has heard of LinkedIn or Indeed for finding a new job, but don’t forget about websites like Remote.co, FlexJobs, and We Work Remotely. Freelancing is also another option if health insurance and other corporate benefits are not your priority. For those opportunities go to websites Upwork and Fiverr to discover remote gigs that align with your expertise.

Creating a Workspace Anywhere

My two-bedroom apartment in Valencia, Spain with high speed internet.

When you’re working remotely, you can literally set up your office anywhere your heart desires. From charming cafes in Paris to cozy beachside bungalows in Thailand, the world becomes your workspace. I typically try to get accomodations with an extra bedroom so that I have a quite in-house place to escape to if needed. If leaving to work, just remember to pack your essentials: a mid-to-high tech laptop, good headphones, and VPN changer such as SurfShark.

Work-Life Balance on the Go

Enjoying lunch with locals in Aruba.

One of the best things about having a remote job is the ability to strike that elusive work-life balance. I can take a morning hike through the mountains of New Zealand, work during the afternoon, and then explore local Aruba cuisine and culture in the evening. It’s all about flexibility, baby!

It also allows me to fully immerse myself in the cultures of the places I visit. I can stay longer in a destination, like my month in Valencia, Spain, allowing me learn the local language, and truly connect with the people. It’s not just about ticking off tourist attractions; it’s about experiencing life as a local.

Making the Most of Travel Opportunities

With remote work, every day feels like a weekend, and every weekend feels like a vacation. I’ve taken advantage of long layovers to explore new cities, turned business trips into personal adventures, and even extended my stays when I’ve fallen in love with a place – all thanks to the flexibility of my remote job.

As a millennial woman exploring the world on my own terms, I can’t imagine a better way to see the world.
