A cozy Icelandic oasis during a long layover.
I’m here to share my recent Icelandic escapade – a second long layover in Iceland a benefit of my PLAY Airlines flight that led me to an unexpected gem: ABC Hotel in Keflavík, Iceland.
So, here’s the deal: I had initially planned to rent a car and embark on another epic road trip around Iceland. But life has a funny way of throwing curveballs, and this time, it came in the form of pure exhaustion. After a month of traveling Spain my body was screaming for a break. So, I decided to pivot and turn my layover into a true relaxation getaway.
ABC Hotel is conveniently located near Keflavík International Airport on a former U.S. Joint Naval and Air Force Base, making it the perfect choice for a weary traveler like me. I arrived around midnight when the lobby was unattended, but there was no worry. Before I even boarded my flight, I received my room number and keycode to get into my room. There was a no-frills lobby and endless halls of rooms, that were super clean. What more do you need for a long layover.
A Dreamy Room
My room at ABC Hotel was nothing short of a sanctuary. The plush bed, fluffy pillows, and blackout curtains were exactly what I needed to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Plus, the room had all the amenities a millennial traveler could wish for – from fast Wi-Fi to Netflix streaming capabilities. It was just what one needs to recharge.
My Two Cents
As my layover came to an end, I couldn’t help but reflect on the beauty of spontaneity and self-care during travel. Sometimes, the best adventures aren’t about covering more ground but about giving yourself the chance to recharge and unwind.
ABC Hotel in Keflavík was the perfect choice for this mini-retreat, offering comfort, convenience, and a taste of Icelandic charm. So, to all you intrepid millennials and Gen Z travelers out there, consider turning your layovers into opportunities for relaxation and exploration. You never know what hidden treasures you might discover – like a cozy oasis in Iceland.
