If you’re a remote worker (check out my guide!) or solo female traveler looking for the perfect place to base yourself in Medellín, you’ve probably already heard of El Poblado.

It’s a digital nomad haven known for its upscale amenities, lush greenery, and social scene. But what if I told you there’s a micro-neighborhood within Poblado that offers all of the perks with even more personality?

Welcome to Manila, a vibrant, walkable, and deliciously unique corner of El Poblado Medellín that deserves a spotlight of its own.

A Breath of Fresh Air in the Heart of Manila Medellín

Manila is everything you love about Poblado but with fewer crowds and more charm. This neighborhood is a mix of old and new—chic boutique hotels and stylish apartments. It’s walkable, safe, and delightfully local while still being just a stone’s throw away from the bustling nightlife of Provenza.

Unlike the high-rise hustle of central Poblado, Manila feels like a secret garden. It’s peaceful enough to focus on your work, yet lively enough to inspire creativity and have some fun too! You’ll find a thriving community of artists and remote workers with a sprinkle of locals who make the area feel both dynamic and welcoming.

Cafés and Coworking Spots That Actually Make You Want to Work in Manila Medellín

If your work setup involves a laptop and good coffee, Manila is your dream neighborhood. This area is dotted with some of Medellín’s most beloved cafés, each offering strong WiFi, stronger espresso, and a warm, community-focused vibe.

My personal favorite is found on Calle 12 at a little cafe called La Fabryka. An unassuming boutique cafe with freshly baked goods that are likely to sell out – trust me! There’s also CANUTOS nearby with its secret garden dining area and amazing fresh juices and more.

And if you need a more traditional setup, several coworking spaces, some associated with hotels & hostels, that are scattered around the neighborhood, all within walking distance.

A Foodie Wonderland Waiting to Be Explored in Manila Medellín

If you travel to eat (who wouldn’t!), Manila will steal your heart and your appetite. Despite its size, this neighborhood is packed with an impressive variety of restaurants offering everything from local Colombian fare to all types of international cuisine. And don’t worry about your budget, from cheap eats to moderately expensive can be found in this neighborhood.

Hands down, my personal favorite is Restaurante Magolos. They offer Colombian food with their own twist. This was by far my most visited restaurant. Make sure you try their roast chicken dish, you won’t regret it!

You’ll also stumble upon plenty of options that make eating in Manila a full-time hobby.

Experience Local Nightlife Without the Chaos

Manila’s nightlife scene is more intimate than Provenza’s but every bit as enjoyable. You won’t find loud oversized clubs here, but you will find beautifully designed bars, eclectic music venues, and plenty of places to sip and socialize.

Visiting hostel rooftops like El Viajero and Los Patios are the norm and open to the public, offering expansive views of the city, themed nights, and a fun mix of locals and travelers.

For solo travelers, these venues are social without being overwhelming, making it easy to strike up a conversation or simply enjoy a night out on your own.

Level Up Your Spanish While Living Like a Local

One of the hidden perks of staying in Manila is its proximity to several reputable Spanish schools. Whether you’re starting from scratch or brushing up on conversation skills, you can level up your language abilities without traveling far.

Taking classes adds a wonderful layer to your Medellín experience. You’ll connect more deeply with locals, navigate with more confidence, and maybe even make a few new friends along the way.

Personally, I attended Elefun for private lessons and highly recommend for others, or even join their group classes.

My Two Cents

Whether you’re staying for a few days or setting up shop for a few months, Manila in El Poblado is the kind of place that makes you feel instantly at home. It’s a walkable, work-friendly, culture-rich slice of Medellín that offers everything a remote worker or solo traveler could ask for—plus a little extra magic. So go ahead, book that flight and bring your laptop. Your next adventure awaits in Manila.
