I jumped in an Uber in Valencia Spain, ready for a day at the beach, but I didn’t realize I was about to be let in on a secret beach that locals know about but the tourists left out.

Thinking I’ve done my research and was set on going to Platja del Cabanyal in Valencia Spain. I thought it was the place to be for a beach day; and that’s exactly what I told my Uber driver, Iker. That’s when he let me in on a local secret; go to that beach and keep driving. That’s because locals go to the beach a 10 minutes’ drive down the street to Platja de la Patacona.

You don’t have go far for a drink at this Valencia Spain beach!

As promised, after 10 minutes we were at a chill beach, with plenty of restaurant options, with pick pocketers nowhere in sight. This area sees so little tourists you can still leave your belongings out (within reason!) and you don’t have to worry about them being stolen. Don’t forget pack your essentials in your waterproof dry bag.

Prepare to be mesmerized as you arrive at this hidden paradise, where the rhythmic crashing of waves creates a soothing symphony, and the soft sand beckons you to kick off your shoes and immerse yourself in relaxation. Unlike the more crowded beaches, this hidden gem offers a peaceful retreat, perfect for a day out in the sun.

Timing is everything. Aim to visit on weekdays or early mornings to avoid the peak hours and have the beach mostly to yourself. After all, the early bird catches the sun lounger!

Valencia’s secret beach is a haven for those seeking a tranquil seaside experience away from the tourist hotspots. Thanks to my amazing Uber driver, I uncovered a hidden gem that became the highlight of my trip. Thanks, Iker!
